Bladder cancer: beating it with gold nano-lingots

Burning tumours, thanks to the use of gold nanoparticles, thus averting the risk of bladder cancer recurrence. This is the promise that comes from the results of experiments conducted in animal models by a team from the Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan (among the facilities of excellence for urology). The technology, which has already been patented, could become an innovative method for fighting tumours, but before that also for detecting them, because we are talking about small neoplasms, less than a millimetre in size, which often escape imaging analysis, but which can favour the development of recurrences. The study is being published in Pnas.
